Hike to the Grande Moucherolle, Oct. 11

Another Tuesday hike in the Vercors. And another trail. What I like about being at the top is the view where all the valleys seems to be filled with shaving cream/whipping cream--clouds--with the mountain peaks poking through.

After 4 hours of going mostly up, we stopped here at 2000 meters, not quite at the peak of the Grande Moucherolle which you can see beyond me. But it was lunch time and we needed enough time to get back to our bus stop. This was also the highest point of a ski station (Villard de Lans). I think this was the very first time to have complete silence during our lunch. Often we will hear a dog barking in a valley, cow bells or a chain saw. The silence was very beautiful.

On some parts in a valley we were challenged by a very wet and muddy path because of the rain that had fallen the day before. Cows had also gone over the path, so added to the mud, were cowpies. We carefully picked our way through the mess.

On our way down, Otto truly did wish he was skiing . . . we settled with walking down some of the ski runs. Oh, and there was a tiny bit of snow here and there.
