American School of Grenoble

This is where the kids go to school- the Cité Scolaire Internationale. --the American school (ASG) is housed within the school. This year the middle and high school has 44 students from 14 different countries. The classes are small.

Isabelle and Luc take art, gym, music and technology with the regular French classes held in the school. These classes are larger and serve as immersion for the ASG middle schoolers (Isabelle is a technically a freshman in USA, but in the French system 9th grade is the last year of middle school).

School supply lists are very long and detailed! For gym, students must all show their shoes to the teacher to make sure there is no undesirable doggy-do on the bottom.

Another angle of the school. The kids got their schedules: each one is different, sometimes beginning at 8am or 9am or 10am, sometimes finishing at 4pm or 5 or 6pm, which is the case for Isabelle on Friday afternoons. Luc has a 3 hr. break on Mondays between classes, so he comes home at noon for lunch and returns to school at 3 for a 1 hr. class.

The kids do think this type of schedule is a bit crazy, but on the other hand, the week passes quickly because each day's schedule is different.
